On Friday June 27, 2008 Lucie and I were at the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal to see Marcus Miller. We decided to arrive early at the concert venue (Metropolis) so we would get some good seats (and we did!), people kept trickling in just before the concert started and then just around 8:40 PM the lights went out and Mr. Miller made his entrance with ‘Blast’ from his latest CD, followed by other tracks like Stevie Wonder’s ‘Higher Ground’ and Miles Davis ‘Jean Pierre’ … and then finally the highlight of the night (for me!) was the rendition of ‘What is Hip’ from Tower of Power, way groovy and funky. Bass slapping and thumping at it’s best – excellent show.
